Company Dainese has presented “smart” vest with function of a pillow of safety for workers
The company Dainess, a well-known manufacturer of active safety systems for motorcycle racers and skiers, together with the University of Bologna, the clinic di Sant’Orsola-Malpighi and energy company Enel presented its new development – a smart safety vest for workers, mitigating consequences in the event of a fall from height.
The vest consists of two systems – electronic and pneumatic. The electronic part includes three accelerometers and three gyroscopes, which continuously transmit data to the computer responsible for developing a complex algorithm in the event of a fall.
In the event of a working drop, the pneumatic part of the system works. Pillows around the perimeter of the body are inflated, maximally protecting the person from the effects of free fall from a height of up to two meters. If the worker is tied with safety ropes, the vest will protect him from a possible “pendulum effect”, which can lead to a blow against the wall.
At present, the waistcoat is being tested by a real application at the Enel power plant.
